Businesses looking to crack code for AI success

Businesses across the world are driving the rapid introduction of artificial intelligence with a significant leap in the recruitment of staff which can deliver AI coding capabilities.

Intelligence and productivity platform GlobalData said ASI coding is revolutionising software engineering by integrating AI and agentic workflows throughout the development lifecycle. Organizations across industries are increasingly hiring professionals to implement AI coding tools for tasks like code reviews, automated testing, documentation generation, and governance. This shift accelerates software delivery while ensuring consistency, security, and compliance, ultimately leading to higher-quality outputs at scale.

Sherla Sriprada, business fundamentals analyst at GlobalData, explained: “Enterprises are no longer asking whether developers should use AI coding tools – they are standardising how agents are governed, measured, and integrated across delivery pipelines.  The clearest signal is the move toward platform ownership, SDLC-wide automation, and auditable controls in regulated environments.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Job Analytics Database highlighted the growing demand among businesses across sectors for talent with hands-on experience in AI coding and agent technologies.

It added major financial services companies are intensifying their focus on software development as AI coding platforms. For example, roles such as Visa Inc’s “director, software engineering,” BlackRock’s “senior java developer, portfolio services team, vice president,” and Citigroup’s “head of agentic commerce, commerce media and digital wallets engineering – director” place strong emphasis on the responsible integration of generative and agentic AI coding solutions that adhere to data governance and regulatory standards.

“Industry leaders are adopting agentic AI platforms to accelerate development cycles, enhance code quality, and automate complex engineering tasks,” GlobalData added. “Key initiatives include AI-assisted code translations such as automating COBOL-to-Java conversion at scale with human-in-the-loop review gates—as well as leveraging AI coding assistants for refactoring legacy SQL, generating unit tests, and automating pipeline code. These efforts are aimed at reducing manual toil through custom automation.”

The study added by deploying AI-assisted tools across the software development lifecycle – including build, testing, deployment, artifact management, and production support – these companies are enhancing the capabilities of development teams and bolstering platform resilience. AI coding agents are now routinely used for automated code reviews, pull request management, continuous testing, and intelligent documentation, ensuring rapid, secure, and high-quality software delivery.

Sriprada concluded: “The rapid adoption of AI coding across sectors signals a lasting transformation in how organisations build, deliver, and maintain software. With AI agents and intelligent automation now a critical part of enterprise development, the ability to innovate at scale has never been greater – positioning digital leaders at the forefront of tomorrow’s business landscape.”
